An Atlanta jeweler has filed a lawsuit against rapper Yung Joc, alleging that he owes nearly $80,000 for a 24-karat diamond bracelet he purchased six years ago.
According to the lawsuit filed Monday in Fulton County, the rapper, whose given name is Jasiel Robinson, bought the bracelet and a diamond ring from Aydin & Company on Aug. 21, 2009. He reportedly agreed to pay $17,500 but, “despite repeated demands,” has since failed to make payments.
With interest — and adding in court and attorneys fees — Robinson now owes the jeweler $79,901.96, the suit claims.
Robinson is an Atlanta native who first made the national hip-hop scene with his 2009 single “It’s Goin Down,” which hit No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. He is also featured on the VH1 reality show “Love and Hip Hop.”
According to his online profile for the show, he has largely moved on from rapping to focus on “his other business ventures and raising his nine kids with his multiple [exes].”
In April, Robinson was arrested in Atlanta on charges including speeding and driving with a suspended license.
