Understanding Different Methods of Growing Marijuana

A lot of people happen to see a lot of potentially good outcomes coming from the legalization of marijuana. Of course, the laws do vary depending on which state you happen to live in, but there are a number of different regulatory laws in place that include consumption of marijuana, the legal amount to carry marijuana, and whether or not you can grow marijuana yourself. So, it is advised that you familiarize yourself with these laws and regulations or else you could end up dealing with some serious legal consequences if you are not being careful.

Now, in order to be able to grow marijuana, there are two different options for reproducing more plants. The first option is via regular sexual reproduction. This includes crossing a male cannabis plant with a female cannabis plant via pollination and then letting the seeds in turn help grow a new plant. This is the traditional way of reproducing plants. However, with time and modern innovation, there is now another option you can opt for, and that is asexual reproduction via cloning. As the name suggests, you keep cloning the same plant and the clones will be perfect copies of the first plant, also known as the mother plant.

Both of these different methods of reproducing plants have their own sets of advantages and disadvantages, and we will be going through them later. Now, if you happen to be interested in cloning, it is important for you to get a good mother plant from which you can get your clones, for this you need to have a good supplier, so you can start off by conducting your research clones for sale here.

Sexual Reproduction

This is how plants will normally reproduce. The process involves cross-pollination between a male and a female plant and is done naturally, and the end result is that all of your new plants will grow from scratch. One of the biggest advantages that come with reproducing your plants sexually is that they will end up with a very diverse range of traits. This means that there is a lot of room for different mutations that can potentially lead to better health or higher yield or something of the sort. This way you can cross different plants and keep having different varieties of plants. This allows you to experiment and play around with the process of growing your own marijuana plants.

Of course, when different plants carrying different genes are allowed to cross, it will not always lead to a happy outcome. You can end up getting weak yields, plants that vary in sizes, and plants that just have unfavorable genes and conditions. This can be incredibly frustrating because you cannot use the bad plants, and the plants go to waste. So, sexual reproduction might be great for people that like to experiment and create their own hybrid and can afford to risk losing crops, but it is not recommended for people who have a small setup and cannot afford to have everything potentially ruined.

Asexual Reproduction Via Cloning

Cloning your plant is considered to be the popular choice amongst different people that grow cannabis, especially for people who are amateurs and are just getting used to dealing with marijuana plants. Cloning is a relatively simple process that involves cutting off the stem from the man plant, also known as the mother plant and then planting that stem in separate soil so that it can grow its own root and consequently grow into an exact copy of the mother plant.

This is a pretty straight forward process and is not entirely unnatural either because this phenomenon has been observed in different plant species as well as roses, potatoes and so on. The entire purpose of cloning is to make sure that you have a stable and consistent yield every single time. It makes for a quicker process as well since the stem is already relatively grown, so you do not have to wait as long for the plant to grow either. Lastly, the fact that the plant is a carbon copy of its mother plant is also great since it means that the plant will have all of the healthy traits.

However, what you need to be concerned about is the fact that there is not much room for improvement or variability in your yield because it will always have the same result. Lastly, if your mother plant is not that great, then you will suffer with average or below par results every single time, so you will have to do all of the necessary research to ensure that your mother plant is healthy and has desirable genes that you would want to be replicated in all of your future yields. So, cloning is the safer option, however, it is not the best option if you are looking for variety or to experiment.

Where Does One Go?

There is no clear-cut answer when it comes to choosing between the two means of reproducing your plant. This is because each of the two methods comes with a different purpose and function, and the benefits that come out of reproducing them a certain way is because of said function and purpose.

Marijuana is being legalized for different purposes in different states throughout the country, and it is only a matter of time until everyone can grow their own supply as well. However, once again, it is strongly advised that you first go through the list of regulations and laws your State has regarding the reproduction and growth of marijuana at home.

If your state has legalized reproducing marijuana at home and you want to have a go at it, then you know what line of inquiry you need to go into. You ask yourself whether or not you want a steady, stable result, or if you want to mess around and introduce variability in your yield. Plus, whether or not you are experienced enough to grow a plant from scratch and so on.
