The Truth With Elliott Wilson: Does Trinidad James Deserve Our Attention?
· December 11, 2012
Elliott Wilson sparks the question about ATL’s new sensation Trinidad James deserving our attention or is he just a one hit wonder who will fade away after ‘All Gold Everything’.
Any and everybody should be able to see the evolution of ignorant rap music. First it was violent and misogynist, now its all those mixed in with the drug culture, real drugs, not just weed and liquor!
“Since when did black ppl start doing drugs?” -MGK
Idk but I was watching Willie Dynamite a few nights ago and I thought to myself “If this was the black exploitation era (everyone disliked so much) then what do we call this rap culture or era that has began in the 90s on up to today? Because its FAR worse, FAR more downtrodden and filthy then any black film that 70s era could spit out?”
We’re under attack and we don’t even know it. Its psychowarfare on young blacks.
The more ignorant music is the more promotion it gets its a slap in the face to dudes who really take this art seriously.2chaiz ,gucci, trinidad james , waka, all them lil niggas in chicago, are wack as shit point blank no way around it .And I hate when niggas say i’m stuck in the times ,fuck all that any nigga with common sense know this music is horrible
thats exactly how i feel. i study this music shit. took classes, play instruments, tryna pass on our legacy and all i see is this f**k sh*t. its embarassin and depressin at ‘the same damn time’
look at how hip hop has been bastardized under the guise of “entertainment” and become a tool to promote negative stereotypes and ignorance. all under the direction of the “establishment”.
it’s so bad that artsit who try to be progressive have to be careful and mix it up, one to keep listeners paying attention at two to have a chance of the record industry releasing their music. unless thy be told it’s not street or hard enough. kendrick kind of goes there and so do artists like the roots but they’re the exception by far.
We live in a now society and 10 years from you won’t remember him..trendy rap that’s what going on now. just like this fashion trend the music fits right with it. Cash out is another one music has turned into milli vanilli everybody has a chance to make some money so in 12 months look out for birdmans mixtape featuring the whole ANS the first track WE LOVE MODELS…
I think you had the best reply on this post bra, thats the truth 60 percent of hiphop these days are trends ,
I MEAN honestly no knock on TRINIDAD JAMES, because you cant be mad at him for getting money off what he does.
But honestly if his video would have came out 10 years ago, i promise it would be parody. Hip hop thanks to wayne, ross etc, it has become acceptable to tolerate bullshiiit.
I mean when you have two grown men kissing each other, a former C.O as a rapper, men wearing jeans tighter than their ho3s, I mean honestly i betch’a if KANYE WORE A SKIRT 2MMOROW but called it something else, ten weeks from now fake n.ggaz would be rocking skirts.
WHAT A BIG HATER PEOPLE ACT LIKE YOU CANT HAVE
FUN AND BE COOL ANYNORE IN HIP HOP TRINIDAD JAMES IS
BRINGIN BACK THE FUN THAT KID N PLAY, RUN DMC,FRESH PRINCE, OUTKAST
& ETC BROUGHT
TO THE GAME SMH
Who hating? N1gga fucc you. Since when did Kin N Play, Run DMC or Fresh Prince rap about strip clubs and molly? tRINIDAD IS trash. U sound like a gotdamn fool and I BET you aint nothing but 18 with ya weak azz. Your generation was a waste
And u wonder y outlr generation a “waste” cuz it old niggas like you attackin us for bein us and not givin game to become better humans nigga YOUR GENERATION GAVE UP ON US BEFORE WE DID
If their generation is a waste then who’s fault would that be? Could it be the generation before. Last I checked in our time we had NWA, Easy E, 2 Live Crew, Too Short, Ghetto Boys, UGK. The list could go on and on. All of these guys were talking about drugs, sex, murder, rape, you name it. I don’t see you pointing at them but its the new generation that’s the problem? Your argument is silly and one sided. If you don’t like James music that’s cool but don’t try to make him out to be the moral decay of hip hop. You’re making yourself sound dumb.
glorifying bullsh1t and passing it off as having fun and being cool is lame. i don’t judge others and ain’t no preacher, but poppin mollies and bs like that ain’t cool. doing drugs in general ain’t cool. most of the people who listen to rappers talking bout drugs have no place experimenting with them cause they don’t understand what drugs can do to unmotivated and unfocused minds.
none of those rappers you mentioned glorified drug use or fcuking with random chicks. having fun, yeah. that other bs, nope.
and rapping wise he can’t hold none of their jocks anyway. i guess you can tell i ain’t a bandwagon type dude like most of the people jumping on tj jock right now…
I think he made a very interesting point in the it’s his image that has people so captivated. He seems very comfortable and confident in his own skin. People gravitate towards that. The video is dope as hell and so is the song. I agree with bruh, he has a future.
I blame all these record labels for polluting hiphop with trashy ass artist. All they want is that money. They do not care if you flop or don’t do shit. They want to cash in on that opportunity right now.If you can make a catch hook and have average bars. Then your chances of getting sign is 50%. But, hey it is what it is…lol
NO Jamez. Aint a fan of Benzino but he was 100% right on Eminem. He told us to remember what Elvis did to rock & roll. They have the numbers so they control the demand. We don’t buy that sh1t. We bootlegged it then downloaded it. Just look in the crowd at this fools concerts. Whites have always dictated what music we play as entertainers
u cant sit up here and tell me yall ok’ing jeezy and gucci and supportin him then say no to this guy. question…WHATS THE DIFFERENCE???!!! there is none. dont pat them on the back the shake yall head at this guy. shawty on twitter said “well what we gon play in the clubs, lupe 9reference to the bad bitch song])
Good point. Poison is poison no matter if it sounds good or not and if Trinidad sounded good few would criticize him. I get it. But I criticize all rap today. You should know that. Jeezy aint exempt
Yeah u rite but then again atl has those silly azz looking rappers coming out messing up the game. Their gay swag is on some other type stuff, and he will be another one hit wonder just like all the wack new atl rappers out now. Music today is def goin down the drain, no creativity just homo azz rappers out now.
Lol u niggas look to deep into music shit movie influence youth more then misic u can see tha shit im so sick of ppl actinike misic is responsible for the youth action no nigga youth is responsible for they own dam actions i was once a teen too and its not hard to make yo own decisions maybe we shud started holdn these kids accountable for there own actions and stop blamin sumbody else nobodys makin the pol listen to his record want u niggas try be happy for a nigga makin sum money and stop talkn bout he coonin and settin upls back a fuck music somg cant set us back and if it can we prolly was ahead in the 1st place ……gone
When you think it can’t get any worse, it does. There will be somebody in straight blackface next year I guess. After Soulja Boy, nothing surprises me. The thing that disappoints me though is all these dudes try to represent my city, and it hurts me to my heart. A center for the civil rights movement with one of the most affluent Black communities in the nation, and we constantly pump out Sambos, each one more ridiculous than the next. I’ve never even heard the song all the way through. My brain cells are too valuable. Just look at this nicca. Like a gay Ol Dirty Bastard.
Anytime a black entertainer does something out of the box this is a common response from a hater. You should be proud that Atalanta is the new music mecca it is. The only people hatin are the niggas who trying to get their own album out and getting pushed back by the labels because these independent artists are able to freely express themselves without worrying about how a major recording company is going to act. Kudos to James for showing that thinking outside of the box can do wonders. Kudos to 2 chainz for reinventing himself and creating a nice body of work with his new album. Kudos to Soulja Boy for being a 17yr old kid who took a home studio and made it into a music empire. What have you done for your city lately but complain?
It’s past time for sensible adults to boycott commercial rap radio. Hot 97, 107.9, whatever the f&@k they call themselves in your city, they need to be stopped, point blank, period. The hypocrisy and foolishness that is allowed to reach millions through the airwaves is just sickening. Mofos have no taste, class, or sense of responsibility to their listeners whatsoever.
Ya’ll are full of sh1t. What did bootsie collins and parliment and several others use to sing about? Drugs. What did lots of blues singers sing about. Alcohol and drugs. Shit he look like bootsie. lol. Look how flavor flav use to dress. Get yall mf heads out your asses. I respect him for being different. Who gives a f*ck what people think. If you can’t teach your family the difference from right and wrong and you can’t tell what is entertainment, that is your fault. Who is ya’ll broke internet niggaz to judge somebody?
First off. Fuck all these old headz on here bashing the younger generation. I’m 37 years old and as a person who has witnessed the evolution of Hip Hop I can honestly say that Hip Hop has done quite alright for itself. Hip hop is not dead and Trinidad James isn’t the catalyst for all that is negative in the music game right now. When I was younger we had our artists who used profanity and drugs and for me to blame all of societies ills on them would not only be foolish but untrue. If that is your belief then you might as well side with the racist white folks in the high rises who’ve been trying to take away your freedom of expression since the days of 2 Live Crew. Don’t believe me, google it. I’m a grown ass man. If I want to pop a molly and start sweatin that’s my business. If I want to listen to Trinidad James that’s my right. Trinidad wouldn’t be as popular as he is now if he didn’t have a fan base. If you don’t like him, don’t listen. Its that simple. But to talk down on someone because of they’re musical preference is childish and dumb. To each his own.
yo when i first saw that video i thought it was a parody or some shit..video set niccas back 10 years..shi# is embarrassiing!!

You know the ironic thing is that 2chainz in my opinion is not too far from trinidad james.
What is the difference between trinidad james and 2chainz
In my opinion it is what it is, if you are going to criticize trinidad james you have a longer list of other rappers who should get attention also.
