Rihanna’s camp has declined to officially comment on Chris Brown’s apology statement, but sources close to the “Umbrella” star say she is “appalled” by Chris’ half-hearted gesture.

On Sunday, the “Kiss, Kiss” crooner released a statement saying he was “sorry and saddened… over what transpired,” but did not go into detail about the alleged assault

“All of us, including Rihanna, don’t understand how he can say he’s sorry on the one hand, but still… does not admit any guilt,” Rihanna’s Barbados-based pal blabbed to the Chicago Sun-Times on Tuesday. “He should have expressed more contrition.”

Chris is due in court in Los Angeles on charges of making criminal threats against Rihanna on March 5.
