Oprah Winfrey is $925 Million richer
NBC Universal said on Tuesday it would buy Oxygen Media, the cable channel that caters to women and was co-founded by Oprah Winfrey, for $925 million in a bid to win a larger female audience and more closely link its TV and Internet businesses.
Oxygen was founded in 2000 by current Chairman and CEO Geraldine Laybourne, Oprah Winfrey and television producers Marcy Carsey, Tom Werner and Caryn Mandabach. It broadcasts syndicated sitcoms such as “Mad about You” and “Roseanne,” as well as reality shows and movies geared to women.Oprah is so set for life. Her future kids, grandkids, great grandkids, great great grandkids, and great great great grandkids will never ever have to work. This is pretty much pocket change to Ms. Oprah. She is one of the most successful black women today. She is a true black role model. When Oprah speaks, we should all listen. Here is my favorite Oprah quote:
“I do not believe in failure. It is not failure if you enjoyed the process.” | “My philosophy is that not only are you responsible for your life, but doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment.” | “Never take a ‘no’ from somebody who isn’t in a position to give you a ‘yes’ in the first place.” | “The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal, you can get there if you’re willing to work.”
