Witnesses said that all they heard were the shots, Norris said. They did not see anyone with a weapon of any kind, they didn’t see anyone running out. They just heard the shots and saw the victim collapse.

Man shot Inside Midtown Club

Atlanta police Friday were investigating an early-morning shooting at a nightclub off Howell Mill Road that left one man wounded.

The shooting occurred about 2 a.m. at the Compound Nightclub & Lounge on Brady Avenue, next to MARTA’s northwest Atlanta bus garage.

Atlanta police Sgt. Sam Norris said the 22-year-old victim was sitting on a couch near the club’s main bar when he was shot twice in the abdomen.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in serious but stable condition.

Police have not determined a motive for the shooting. There was apparently no altercation or argument before the gunfire erupted, Norris said.

According to the club’s Web site, Compound was hosting a special event Thursday night sponsored by radio station Hot 107.9.

The event, “Hot on the Runway,” was billed as “where hip hop meets fashion,” according to the Web site.
