Authorities said a man attacked his girlfriend and their three children with box cutter at a motel in the Southern California community of Victorville.

San Bernardino County sheriff’s spokeswoman Cindy Beavers said 29-year-old Esteban Saracho was booked for investigation of attempted murder and held on $1 million bail.

Deputies received a call around 1:40 a.m. Tuesday about a man chasing a woman outside the Red Roof Inn.

Beavers said Saracho locked himself in a motel room with the three children and slashed them with a box cutter.

A 3-year-old and a 5-year-old were flown to Loma Linda Medical Center with lacerations to the face, neck and head. A 7-month-old was taken by ambulance to Loma Linda with similar injuries. The woman had minor injuries.
