Jim Jones Says Juelz Santana Could “Be Greater Than Jay-Z Ever Was”

· November 14, 2012

Jim Jones told SOHH his top five rappers of all time that praises Cam’ron and Juelz Santana as god-like figures in this rap game.

Juelz Santana. I’m going with Juelz Santana. I always told Juelz he could be greater than Jay-Z ever was. That boy is super talented. Listen to everything he’s done and what his music says.

Camron.jpgCam’ron. I gotta name Cam’ron. I think Cam is the best rapper. Period. I’ve known Cam and I’ve grown up with him. I’ve seen, lived and witnessed all the things that his music is about. So you can’t beat that at all. That’s actual and factual.

Fabolous. Put Fabolous in there. Fab’s wordplay is phenomenal. You can’t take nothing away from what Fab can say on a record. He always stays with a hit on the radio. And the b*tches go crazy over him when it comes to that music. You can’t take nothing away from a man that’s got the b*tches on him like that.

Rick Ross. Rick Ross. He’s been blowing up, [and] his words are so crazy. You gotta look at that wordplay. He’s also got his swag together, killing everything that’s moving, shooting anything that’s moving, he’s smashing it all. What’s better than that?

Lil Wayne. Love the boy Lil Wayne, Weezy. Weezy’s been changing the game up for the past few years. He’s been doing it for about the last six years. Straight. Just giving n*ggas straight headaches, selling millions of records at a time.

Jay-Z is nice but lyrically there are rappers out her spitting better then him like Fab.

Do you agree with his list or think he is being biased?

  1. Jimmy smoking that keisha!! This nigga been hating on jayz & nas so long u just ignore the stuff he says.

Jim jones is funny, the thing about this list is that Everyone on this ist has either 1. Looked up to JAYZ or called him the best or worked under him , which makes him a boss.(LIL WAYNE/FAB) and even Camron admited that he didnt get along with him but admires his skill and hustle. 2. Juelz and FAb both worked under jayz at DEF JAM.

FAB – is nice on mic, the boy got skills but he tends to get lazy at times, his focus falls off, more interested in vh1 braods and boasting,he doesnt have the work ethic as jay.

Juelz- he is witty but he is one dimensional, he is an overated punch line rapper, not a bad thing but nothing on JAYZ.

Wayne- We have all seen 3 stages of wayne in terms of lyrical skills ( circa 200) when he was around gilly and was about to leave baby, at that point LIL WAYNE WAS SCARY , I MEAN WEEZY WAS A FCKING BEAST, he is still nice but his lyrical skills have deplinished some, he doesnt play all four quaters, just like RANDY MOSS HE PLAYS WHEN HE WANTS.

CAMRON IS the most absurd rapper on this list- He is an overated ABC rapper that happens to have a new york accent, and because of that most people think that makes him lyrical, which it doesnt, he is average at best.

ROSS- a carbon copy and hybrid protege AND POOR MANS VERSION JAYZ/BIGGIE? Which is not a bad thing at all, Ross is the most lyrical street rapper of all time from the south. Not saying that all he says is true ,but from perspective of his rapping style the south has never had a STREET STYLE GANGSTER(NO ross aint a ganster) rapper with lyrics until ROSS.

ALL IN ALL jayz is nice, he is no jordan of rap, but he does what he does.

    • desolation says:

ross the most lyrical southern rapper of all time ? Never. he in the same boat as jeezy, they both got nearly the same exact content.

      • NoWhiteINmyCup says:

Read what i said, i never said he was the most lyrical southern rapper of all time, I SAID as far as street shiiit is concerned, street music , some call it gangsta music, he is the most lyrical in south when it comes to that. ANDRE 3000, CEE LO, even scarface are not really all street they are more concious rappers which i like but ROSS takes the cake when it comes to that catagory

    • tyuaza says:

      andre 3000

      • Mr.Justinian says:

thank you add bun b and MJG

        • NoWhiteINmyCup says:

Agree Bun B nice, but he aint got ROSS lyrically, and Eight Ball is also a legend, MJG is garbage half of his lyrics are garbage he just blends well with EIGHT BALL, like dre and big boi, but neither of them have ROSS lyrically.

  3. Birdman202 says:

It’s a good list but you can exchange cam and juelz cause they haven’t had no new music lately. You can say game,dre3000,and a few more. He’s right about jay doe

  4. Xman says:

his collabos with wayne are good thats about it.

  5. afGan Stan says:

    Birdman>>Jim Jones

    • MoorFedayeen says:

Now I wouldn’t take it that far! I seen so many comments in here, I thought one of these n1ggas died. Juelz aint put in the work and he can’t say he been here for as many eras as Jay has been and I’m FAR from a Jigg(a) fan, just being honest.

  6. jamar says:

KRS ONE…murders his whole list lyrically.

  7. numbers says:

jayZ=greatestofalltime. all these rappers know it. quit makin yourself sound crazy…Fabulous?!??

    • NoWhiteINmyCup says:

Nas Murked JAYz, even JAYZ acknowledged that ” WHO betta than, hove no one, maybe my n.gga NAS, but i got stronger after ether.

Jayz even feels that he is better than bigg, but acknowledged NAS, Jayz is far from the best to ever do it, he aint better than PAC, BIGGIE, OR NAS. He TOP 5 but not best ever

      • MoorFedayeen says:

Jay wish he was the greatest of all time. W/o the machine favoring him, where would he be?

Its like Pac vs Big’s legacy. Pac had no one behind him (that mattered) after death while Big had all of NY behind him when he passed and we still see how that played out. Jay can’t stand on his own, thus he steps on others.

  8. Birdman202 says:

For at this point jay’s name is caring him his last few albums has been so so but he sales cause of his core audience who will never say he’s falling off. And jay was lucky to get all the light he has cause if BIG was still here he would have everything sowed up cause jay can’t touch him on the mic.

  9. NoWhiteINmyCup says:

TOP TEN RAPPERS OF ALL TIME

    1. BIGGIE/PAC- LYRICAL GENIOUS WORD PLAY ETC ,the only reason he sharing it with pac is because he only had two albums.

    2. NAS- my favorite rapper ever, he took what rakim did and translated it in all flavors, NAS can rap with southern, midwest, etc, his flow is untouched.

    3. RAKIM
    4.JAYZ – modern day poet
    4. KOOL G RAP
    5. ANDRE THREE STACKS – TOP 5 RAPPERS EVER
    6. BIG DADDY KANE- AHEAD OF HIS TIME IN WORDPLAY
    7. LL COOL J up until 2000- dont sleep on LL he was the truth in his prime
8.CEE LO GREEN-ALOT OF YALL Might think im smoking but dont get it twisted DRE 300 was a beast but people sleep on CEELO goodie mob days, ask any souther artist and they will tell you, he was doing drak singing and rapping before DRAKE.

    9. BUNB/SCARFACE- BOTH LYRICAL IN THEIR OWN SCARFACE FELL OFF A LITTLE BUT STILL ONE OF BEST,one of few southern rappers respected by NY AND NORTHEN RAPPERS.

    10. COMON SENSE, not the new Comon after name change even though he still nice

    HONORABLE MENTION

DRAKE- young but the boy is a lyrical genius, dont give a fcuk what nobody say, this boy can go toe to toe with the best, TRUST Drake flow is the shiiit.

SNOOP DOG- DIDNT make list because its well known that snoop used ghost writers which is odd because he ghostwrited for Dre.

RED MAN- Decent but no consistency

EMIMNEM – EM is nice cant take nothing away from the boy, but if EM was white he would be CANIBUS

  10. floCK says:

love 2pac but hes not lyrical. biggie only had 2 albums so didnt get a chance to see if he wouldve had longevity. Jay has maintained greatness through it all. Fab is the only person would has true lyrical ability on Jim’s list. clearly only ranking people hes cool with. wayne is garbage now, needs gillie asap.

  11. Birdman202 says:

Pac to me was fluke cause alot people only jock cause he was on deathrow if suge didn’t get him out of jail then what. How many hits did he have before deathrow. It was more than his music as to why he was so large take away the days on the row he would never be in the discussion.

    • Taper g says:

U sound stupid as shit you fail to remember pac was only on death row 4 years at the most he had wht maybe two records wit them he was in alllll those movies before death row juice..above the rim bullet the chevy chase movie he and digital underground made an appearance in brendas gotta baby he had hella albums before death row death row is what took him into the mainstream market as far as mtv n white ppl n shit lol

  12. stack. says:

What made Jay great in his prime was the way he could talk that street sh!t with more depth and substance than the average rapper did. I’ll give you that he ain’t what he used to be, but Jay in his prime on his best day makes the majority of these dudes music sound simple as sh!t. The only one he named that’s close to that level is Fab, and he’s too inconsistent to flat out say he’s better than Jay.

  13. chollywolly says:

I gotta disagree about ross being the most lyrical street rapper from the south. That title will always belong to scarface hands down. Redman is 8 out of the top 10 (at least). You gotta understand 80% of rappers today is garbage. They have no creativity and use club tracks to blow up.

    1. Rakim
    2. G rap
    3. Kane

Simply, because every single rapper in the game that is considered great (jigga, nas, biggie,) got they style from them.

    4. Ice cube- amerikkkas most wanted classic, death certificate classic, leathal injection classic. He single handly broke up nwa with one diss song. First rapper flowing on other niggas beats (jacking4beats) and he ghost wrote for nwa before he left

    5. pac
    6. Nas
    7. Jay
    8. Redman
    9. 3000
    10. Scarface

  14. Birdman202 says:

As far jay the only albums that matter is reasonable doubt to the first blueprint after yeah he’s a poet but he catch grab the younger audience cause they don’t understand what he talks about. From 25 on down they listen to young money and mmg. They know who is but they can’t understand the impact of he first album. I haven’t heard watch the throne but what they play on the radio not impressed with it’s like the music is for old heads.

  15. chollywolly says:

Hell, Big L was better than jay z. And niggas hate to admit that

  16. Birdman202 says:

no raekwon or ghostface make the list they can flow and az was slept on too

  17. Realtalkin says:

Jim list weak and biased as hell. In no way is fab ever nicer than Jay either (in Jays prime) especially.

  18. joe says:

this list is WACK. he said wayne been changing the game up for the last 6 years. Wayne’s nicest run was before that when he had that string of mixtapes in betweet the carter and the carter II. That’s Wayne’s best legacy right there. NO mention 2pac, B.I.G., Nas. Jay-z is in there, too though can be called commercial. Aint no mention of the LOX, big L, cassidy, big pun, it’s many mentions that could be made that would top the people on this list. As I said before, Wayne’s RAP legacy was before what he said. Now he’s on his marketing and networking thing.

  19. chollywolly says:

Hey birdman ghostface is actually my favorite rapper. However, he is not top ten. Biggie is also one of my favs but I still dont put him in my top ten. See the thing about why biggie hype was so big is because he was the east coast savior. In 91-94 the west coast was smashing the game. Jay z was spitting and nobody was really listening then, illmatic didn’t even go gold until years after it came out, wutang was killing but they couldn’t compete with the west coast. when biggie came out he was ny savior! So of course people going to put him in they top 5. But I won’t because he didn’t have longevity in the game and only did two albums. We never got to hear him in his prime and see what he was capable of doing on the mic.

    • BzB says:

cholly…the comment about longevity has to include quality of work. a lot of those rappers on the list put out a lot of work, but only got 1 or 2 classic albums. both biggie’s albums were classics. i don’t really count the albums after his death because that was just a puff money grab. i agree with you on gfk, definitely one of my favs.

  20. Mister Mister says:

All in all, Jim Jones keeps Jay-Z’s name in his mouth….I think he really wishes he was Jay.

My list goes 1. Biggie 2. Pac & 3. Jay. Folks forget Jay’s early work was incredible, Biggie’s my #1 rapper of all time but Reasonable Doubt is my favorite hip-hop album of all time. Jay has dumbed down his lyrics, but he can still bring it when he wants to.

I do wonder if Big was alive, how vicious the Commission would have been. The classic songs from the two of them, so on & so forth.
