Many people choose to shop at Costco because they believe they are always getting the better of the deal but it turns out that may not be the case after all. The popular Tiffany & Company says that they have been misrepresented by the whole sale business claiming that the rings displayed are actually fakes that have like money been counterfeited to appear as real Tiffany rings.
The company was informed by a customer which led to launching an investigation of its own discovering that Costco had been selling these rings for a number of years and has decided to take the whole sale business to court alleging:
trademark infringement, counterfeiting, claiming injury to business ,unfair competition, injury to business reputation, false advertising and deceptive business practices.
A representative from the company released a situation about the lawsuit:
“We now know that there are at least hundreds if not thousands of Costco members who think they bought a Tiffany engagement ring at Costco, which they didn’t,” Jeffrey Mitchell, Tiffany’s counsel in the case, said in a statement. “Costco knew what it was doing when it used the Tiffany trademark to sell rings that had nothing to do with Tiffany. This is not the kind of behavior people expect from a company like Costco, and this case will shed a much needed light on this outrageous behavior.”
