Washington (CNN) — Police arrested actor George Clooney and others Friday during a protest at the Sudanese Embassy in Washington.

The arrested protesters included congressmen, human rights activists and faith leaders.

“We are here really to ask two very simple questions,” Clooney said moments before his arrest. “The first question is something immediate — and immediately, we need humanitarian aid to be allowed into the Sudan before it becomes the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.”

The second thing, he said,

“is for the government in Khartoum to stop randomly killing its own innocent men, women and children. Stop raping them and stop starving them. That’s all we ask.”

Protesters had begun gathering up the street before the protest began and converged on the Embassy once Clooney and the others arrived, holding signs reading “Stop Bombing Civilians Now!” and “End the silence stop the violence.”

Clooney met with President Obama on Thursday to discuss his concerns about Sudan.

He testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee this week about violence in the Nuba Mountains in South Kordofan, a state in Sudan near its border with newly independent South Sudan.

Clooney and other activists blame the Sudanese government for attacks there that have injured and killed civilians.Read more here.

I salute everyone involved in this protest cause they knew they had to sacrifice something to get the media’s attention on this disaster going on in Sudan.

Good for George and the others who protested. The biggest “crime” would have been if they saw the atrocities in Sudan and walked away and did nothing.

The biggest crime is that once again, a European has to be the face of “something” in Afrika in order for it to be called an atrocity. The biggest crime is when the Black Afrikans were crying out genocide, we’re over here arguing about who is the greatest rapper, rioting over Phil Knight’s shoes, and not spent one day calling out the Europeans for their hypocrisy. How do you know it wasn’t staged? After all, doesn’t Clooney and others of his ilk depend on the subjugation of Afrikans? I’m not dissing you bro or any other brother and sister, but don’t applaud a European whose very lifestyle depends on subverting you.

propz to Clooney’s way of making his life meaningful is to bring attention to a worthy cause and this is a worthy (if not unique) cause.

  • Kperpective

These “so-called” celebrities have found some real purpose in life. That is good a thing. The media should be showcasing these worthy causes and not junk like “the kadashians”.

  • MoorFedayeen

I’m always suspicious of celebs and their true motivation. U critique a govt on their atrocities but remain silent about your own govts wars with no bases in Pakistan, Afghan and of course Iraq.

    • MoorFedayeen

Not to mention the 7000 American troops that have perished in the process with god knows how many civilians.

    • presto 2.0

cause they would lose a certain “fanbase” @Moor…..we live in a world where “many will bend over and take it hard in the name of patriotism…”…and to go against dem boyz…”they’ll make a Martain Lawerance…or Dave Chappelle outta yo azz”(make you look insane)…no more whyteman money for you…bye-bye…lmao!

…but seriously….this is what prest means when i say…entertainers(moviefolk, athletes, rappers…ect) with so much influence on the “masses” have an obligation to lead the SHEEP…cause they wont follow or think its kool unless they see you do it…sad but tru!…We’ve had and still have the power to make shyt happen(#KONY)…and its us comin 2gether in #’s…WE NEED MORE INNOVATIVE WAYS TO START MOVEMENTS…imagine if Wayne was to tell yall boyz that skinny jeans and Vans were whack…yes teamchoco’s would tjrow tantrums but hey?…lol…or that it doesnt stop with Kony…we comin for all yall…me and my MILLIONS of followers…US and Abroad……smh…ok i’ll stop!…Bigup Clooney!

No European has an obligation to save Black people, regardless of their intentions. They cannot maintain their position, unless we continue to occupy our position. Instead of us cheering on all those brainwashed athletes and black actors when they marry Europeans out of ignorance, why are they not over there? Where is Denzel and Samuel? Making European super hero movies. As soon as Cloony and Angelina realize that the rise of Afrikans worldwide will be the destruction of the White Supremist Cabal Criminal Enterprise, they will fly right back into the arms of white folks, well, because, it’s natural for them to do that.

        • prince_kosmic

CNN, ABC, and Headline news labeled his arrest” Clooney arrested for being too sexy?” What does that tell you about how they received his message?

  • Red Of The Teamchocolate

They trying So Hard to invade The Motherland

We all know “They” need what we possess to survive here on Earth

  • ttttq

what with these white people taking up causes after the war is over and both side are trying to make peace between each other? where were you for the last 30 yrs ?

  • wobeli

I used to be skeptical about his motives, I don’t give a dam about the media headlines. These actions seem to come from a real concern.

    • MoorFedayeen

We just don’t know. I won’t believe until I see him catch a real case or injure himself for the cause. Until then I’m agreeing with Red

he fails to see that the european is laughing AFTER he was “arrested.” If Clooney was so concerned at this crisis has “stayed” with him, like his father said, since 2006, then why does he continue to earn millions, blow through european models, live in comfort, while those people continue to starve since 2006? Now the Red Cross, UN, NATO,etc. go fly in and drop off a bag of mealy grain or seeds, like those folks are a bunch of damn cows and horses. Meanwhile, Clooney will be back here making movies. If he was truly concerned, why was he locked up here in America? Is he too scared to be locked up in a Sudanese jail? Bet it wouldn’t be so funny then.
