Chris Brown has been denied from participating in a tonight’s tribute to the late King of Pop at tonight’s BET Awards in Los Angeles, EgyptSaidSo is reporting.

Word is BET producers fear having Brown participate in the tribute to Jackson would upset fans of the network, who are still on edge after the crooner’s assault on singer Rihanna earlier this year.

Earlier this week, Brown — who performed Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” during the 2006 World Music Awards in London — hailed the star as the reason why he wanted to become an entertainer.

Maybe his luck will change if they did a Joe Jackson tribute.

  • jamroc26 says:

I think they should have let Chris Brown perform. He would have been wonderful.

  • Shiii says:

Woowww dat realliii not kalled 4!!!! I used 2b a hugee chirs brezzy fann but now nowhere as much!! Da boi mite hav 4years n jaill!! Witch jus mite ruin his career!!!! He shood liv3 lif3 up b4 he’s n da pin!! He freakin looked up 2 MJ dat was his freakkin role modell!! N he should b able 2 showw off hiz dance moves jus as much as Neyoo!!

  • Renea says:

Yet they let Lil Wayne and his ghetto ass perform and he’s facing drug charges. How hipocritical. Why are we not surprised. They hadn’t played Michael’s music in years. Now they want to honor him. I’m sure MTV will have a TRUE tribute, and hopefully let Chris perform.

  • Marie says:

Not only did they let Little Wayne perform but they also honored convicted felon TI. Then Jamie was on the after show glorifying smoking marijuana. Heck half the rappers in the audience are criminals; yet Chris Brown can’t be on stage for 5 minutes. It’s not like Michael has squeaky clean past….did they forget 4 magazines featuring naked boys were found in his home with his fingerprints on them. Have they not heard the allegations of him being a drug abuser. Rihanna needs to speak up and share what really went down so they can stop making Chris into a demon. All sins are equal in Gods eye so beating your girlfriend is no worst then lying, cheating, stealing, fornicating…well actually hitting someone isn’t a sin. Tonight confirms my notion that BET sucks. I DVR’d the show hoping to see Chris Brown, but now I’ll just press delete.

  • Nye says:

WoW, I am so shocked BET needs to find a back bone. MJ called Chris on his 18th birthday, Chris loved MJ just as all the other arist did. Not to be mean I Loved MJ but hell the man himself wasn’t a church boy he had his problems. Chris will live past the problems he has gotten into. I think BET did MJ a disjustice by not letting Chris say good bye. And like it was said Lil Wayne give me a f-ing break, BET is a joke.

  • young_1 says:

But Don Cornelius was there and he beat his wife. Wow BET. I’ll be sending them a message. First, Jamie needed 2 stop taking every 5 minutes to perform a song like ppl wanted to hear him sing. He was the host, not the whole show. All that time that he used to sing could’ve been used for MJ’s tribute. Jamie’s so called comedy was more than inappropriate, especially considering the theme for the Awards show. Then, BET said we were going to celebrate Michael but it looked more like a funeral to me, with the sad songs and the old friends making comments like it was a eulogy. Now the old friends would have been fine if not for the fact that not one of Michael’s songs were played. How do you celebrate an artist and not play his music or have a performance to his music? The Awards were so ridiculous, it was not a tribute to MIchael and they have ultimately failed him. BET knows that a tribute from Chris Brown, Usher, Ne-yo, Justin Timberlake, and Ciara would have saved the show. I have never seen such a boring BET Awards show in my life and I will never watch the show again.

  • Cathy says:

BET sucks for not letting Chris Brown on…this is a tribute for one of his inspirations… somthing that cannot be replace…you guys are losers…

  • reed says:

The awards was wack. I thought it would b a better tribute. Even if they didn’t want to let chris brown perform, they could of have usher, ginuwine, omarion, jt, to honor him with some performances. I’m mad I wasted my time. Horrible show and mj would b mad

  • gphi says:

I feel that they should’ve let CB participate, give him a chance, jus’ like you would anybody else. I knnow that he made a mistake, but he also needs a chance to get back on his feet entertainment wise. PEACE!!!

Touré (who worked for CNN, BET and who’s currently employed through Access Hollywood) posted the following message on his twitter

    Quote:
    Touré:
I cannot be mad at Covergirl for blocking CB. No way they can pay to be on a show he’s part of. Rihanna’s their girl.

The back-up dancer for Chris Brown, named as “bshaw721″ recently posted the following message on twitter:

    Quote:
So Jay-Z tells BET that if chris performs that he will not perform. Ummmm…….. Wait for it……..WHO CARES!!!!!
Hours earlier, he posted the following message, which lead people to believe Jay-Z was responsible

    Quote:
Jay-Z is mad childish. Never keep a person from paying there respect.

  • toya says:

Jay Z and Beyonce gave the guys at BET an ultimatum: If Chris Brown performs, we don’t! Who made them the boss!? MJ didn’t even care about BET

  • Shelly says:

NO wonder the show sucked so bad. Instead of a true MJ fan and friend, they had whack Jay Z and fake Beyonce performing! This is the same chick that trashed the Jackson family in the media a few months ago, and people are supposed to believe that she was sincere? Ya right. BET should have let Chris go on and let the two of them walk. Her so called tribute had nothing to do with MJ and his song titled DEATH was uncalled for one a so called tribute to a recently deceased Icon.

    RIP Michael

  • Brandon says:

Shelly your an idiot! First, of all “Death to Autotune” is a great song, and in no way does it have any bearing or does it feel weird to have that in the same show that pays tribute to MJ. Secondly, I just went to the Jay-Z Concert Thursday night here in Phoenix and he paid a great tribute to MJ at all of his shows, so he does care. I think BET could have done more ans Jamie needed to stop altogther, but instead of blaming BET for NOT putting him on, let’s direct the blame back at Chris who did all of this to begin with, He would be more fitting to do a bit honoring Ike Turner thank MJ lately.

  • we would surely miss the King of Pop. Michael Jackson is definitely a legend in the history of music.
