Chaka Khan Attends Honorees At 2013 Rock Art Love Ball (Pictures)

The string of celebrations in honor of Chaka Khan’s 40 years in music continued at last night’s ‘Rock Art Love’ Ball and Auction held at New York City’s Gansevoort Hotel.

The Grammy winning soul legend was honored for her contributions in music at the inaugural event that also recognized Oscar Award nominated director, Lee Daniels for his contributions to film; and philanthropist, Carlos Slim for “his commitment to homeless and humanitarian heroes around the globe.”

Hosted by Soledad O’Brien, the event attracted a slew of guests including Cuba Gooding Jr., Miss America Nana Meriwether, and noted fashion designer, B Michael.

The evening was highlighted by a silent auction and special performances from popular violinist, Miri Ben-Ari, and Valerie Simpson of Ashford & Simpson provided the evening’s entertainment

Proceeds from the event will support the Homeless World Cup, which unites programs and organizations to positively impact the lives of homeless and excluded people around the world.
