12 robbed, 3 stabbed, 2 dead over $200 Nike Foamposite Release

Today, July 1, is the official release date for Nike Electric Blue Foamposite’s. As we all know, these $200 shoes are ALL the craze and shoe fans around the Country lined up last night outside of their local shoe outlets to be the first to get these… or the last… just before they sell out!

Beginning around 11pm last night, photo’s were tweeted of the line’s outside PG Plaza and Iverson Mall. You would assume authorities would be involved during the release of such an expensive shoe, but apparently that’s not the case. We have heard of 3 Stabbings and 2 Deaths at PG Plaza Mall and 12 people in line at Iverson were robbed.

Unfortunately, the news of the victims was not as surprising as it should have been to local residence. Twitter reactions were rather apathetic. Many people made comments like “Only 12 people” or “why am I not surprised”.

Since when is a life worth a pair of $200 sneakers? Who is at fault? Why are material things SO important to our generation?

The DMV area is not alone in these senseless acts. Check out this story of 18 yr. old Malik Jenkins of NYC. Malik and a friend were lured by two young girls to an area where 4 men approached them. Jenkins friend we robbed of his $150 True Religion jacket while Jenkins managed to break free and run. Jenkins was wearing his $600 Marmot Mammoth Coat as he was struck by two cars while crossing Bruckner Boulevard.

$5000 for a funeral because someone was killed over a $200 sneakers that were produced with for $10.

We 2 materialistic. Listen 2 all the rappers. All they talk about is labels. You got women talking bout all their kids wear is Mikes but they have no educational toys or anything that they really need. N@#$s got big rims on their cars but have no bank account or still stay wit moms. We think that’s a sign of wealth. Looking good but broke as hell. Look at Bill Gates or some of these other billionaires. No ice. No flashy clothes. Maybe a nice ride but it ain’t all tricked out. And they can really afford it. Look at a n#$%a like Antoine Walker. Had all that money & now he’s broke as #$%^. Stuntin.

***** rappers didn’t cause this ****!!! Rappers was in the studio working muthafucka. Where were their parents or uncles.

I feel that rappers aren’t the sole cause of our communities ways, but they do play a major role in helping another man’s cause. If you think about it, the record labels that supply mainstream distribution only sign certain type of rappers, and they are incouraged to talk about a few topics that are put all over radio, and television the biggest influence in our society today. They feel like they doin it to help make their family straight, but in reality they just blind. I.e the blind leading the blind

@Sohated313 I am a parent living in the DMV, and I bought my son a pair of these shoes not becuase of some rapper, or some superficial idea of keeping my family straight. I bought them becuase he is my child, and he made 5 A’s and 2 B’s while taking advanced classes in school. I cannot agree with you in regard to the blind leading the blind becuase I have set a standard and that is to work for what you want and if you got the money go get it. I am about education and his grades got him the shoes. These shoes are distributed nationwide, and the only incident of record happened in the DMV, and if you were to look at the stats the incident level would be low, but still very unfortunate. This is another case of us doing it to ourselves. I am 42 and I have seen this happen in some form for the last 25 years.

        I meant that 4 you ***** *** *****!

      • Voice of Reason says:

@Polo, I live in the DMV and they were in PG County where there is always something like that going on. You are right rappers did not cause this, the people that did the stabbing, and the robbing caused the problem. It never ceases to amaze me when something like this happens because the people that caused the problem can always opt out with an excuse.

    • Hahz says:

I agree but we as men do it cause of our women judge us by materialistic sh1t

      • T-Fleezee says:

@ Hahz I definitely agree wit that 2!

@T, hear what you are saying but its nothing wrong with having nice things as long as you live within your means, but robbing and stabbing cats for their sh!t ain’t got nothing to do with stuntin

Just went on u-tube to see what all the fuss is about with these things. I see dude wearing them never know they were this Popping with peeps. I don’t think I would pay this much for a pair of kicks, good shoes, maybe.

Last pair of kicks over 100 bucks I got were the first Shaqs made back in the day. No way I would pay that much for them after seeing how they are made.

What made me hip to the whole thing is when My brother was stationed in Korea and another Asia country, as a joke he sent me the same kicks I was bragging to everyone that I had got costing almost 150 to 200 bucks. One he only payed 25 bucks and the other was about 30 bucks! This was over 10 or more years ago. I have not gotten tennis shoe that cost over 40 bucks since!!

      • T-Fleezee says:

@ Jfizzle I feel you. This **** just reminds me of the 90′s when people were getting robbed & killed over a pair of Mikes & starter coats. Gotta have the latest & greatest & if they can’t afford it some will kill 4 it. Sad.

      • Voice of Reason says:

I have a question how many people on this thread have children?

    • Voice of Reason says:

@T, ok you have a point what if you have a high household income, own your home, have low debt to income ratio, would it be ok to buy your child a pair of 200 dollar shoes?

  3. Eazy says:

Is it because the sneaks are $200, because they are ugly.

  7. Nykki D says:

PLEASE!!! People have been getting robbed for their clothes since Grand Master Flash was standing in the projects with a boombox on his shoulder. This has simply become the way of the Black community. As long as someone doesn’t have, someone will take. Get over it and just don’t be dumb enough to be caught slippin

  8. yesskr says:

Everyone should still rock the shaqs from payless that light up.
Then there would be no problems.

  9. destiney says:

not about the rappers my outlook of it is children want things that they see other people with or have the parents are to busy buying crack weed e.c.t then taking care of their children not to say thats the reason why this took place but if we supported or children instead of being their friends and be a parent show them how an d not give them drugs to sell some parents smoke with their children some parents have their children stealing and many more so as an adult we should be the blame as adults for what we tought them a child come in to this world not knowing anything until we teach them and some of us show and teach the wrong blame no one but life
