Opera night club wasn’t the only spot in Atl popping last night the grand opening to The Gold Room was last night and word is it was going down in there. If you can manage to fill up Tounge & Groove parking deck to the point cops verified were every car was headed to cause the garage was full that is saying something. It was a mixed crowd similar to the former clubs It is rumored that Devyne Stephens of Upfront Megatainment is co owner of The Gold Room I haven’t had time to verify if this was true or not.

The Gold Room is a sparkling new lounge and nightclub with state of the art lights d.j. booth and video displays. The downstairs area, a 4,800-square-foot space, has two bars, a dance floor and banquet seating. The upstairs lounge, 2,400-square-foot space, is glassed-in and has a view of the dance floor below, as well as its own bar and a champagne bar.That’s light years removed from the Gold Club, the shady strip joint shut down eight years ago.

That’s the same club where pro athletes like former Atlanta Brave’s center fielder Andrew Jones admitted he received sexual favors from dancers and where owners confessed to federal racketeering charges.

I heard that cats like Charles Oakley paid up to 5k a night for escorts out of the Former club.
