Travis Barker Files $25K Suit Over Plane Crash

Submitted by Hahz on November 24, 2008 – 1:01 amNo Comment

Travis Barker has filed a $25,000 negligence lawsuit against the companies responsible for his September jet crash.According to E! Online, the former Blink 182 drummer filed the suit last Friday (November 21) blaming Clay Lacy Aviation, Global Exec Aviation Inc and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company for damages including personal injury and the wrongful deaths of four other passengers aboard the jet, two of whom not only worked for the Barker but were also close friends.

“One or more of the tires failed,” the lawsuit reads. “Leaving tire debris and portions of airplane components along the 8,600 foot runway.”

Barker, who along with DJ AM was badly burned in the accident, also accuses the pilot for intentionally disregarding any attempt to abort the jet’s takeoff.

“The pilot’s decision was a breach of their duty owed to the passengers onboard,” it reads. “And was a substantial factor in causing the crash and resultant injuries and deaths.”

Clay Lacy Aviation public information officer Duke Tony feels the company should not be held responsible for the jet’s malfunctions and crash.

“We were not involved, not our aircraft or our crews,” Tony told E! “We don’t understand the connection and we haven’t been informed of the lawsuit. We are often called for referrals and while I was not personally involved in this trip we are talking about, maybe we were called and referred.”

The mother of one of the deceased passengers, Thelma Martin Still, is also included as a plaintiff in the lawsuit and has requested damages.
